What affects the cost of laparoscopic surgery

What actually drives the cost

• Which operation. Removing an ovarian cyst, removing fibroids, freeing adhesions, and removing the uterus are different in length and complexity.
• The route. Vaginal, laparoscopic and open procedures involve different theatre time, anaesthesia and length of stay.
• Length of hospital stay. A day-care hysteroscopy costs differently from an operation needing a one- or two-night admission.
• What is found during surgery. Occasionally what looked straightforward on a scan needs more done once the surgeon can see it directly, which is discussed with you as part of your consent before the operation, not afterwards as a surprise.

Getting an actual figure

Because of the above, a specific estimate is only meaningful after a consultation and a scan confirm which operation you actually need. Call or WhatsApp us with your scan reports and we will talk you through what is involved and give you a written estimate before anything is scheduled.

One hospital, one bill

The operating theatre is Pai Hospital's own, at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama — there is no separate surgeon's fee, hospital fee and anaesthetist's fee arriving from different places, because everything happens under one roof. If you are travelling from elsewhere in Goa for the consultation or the operation, we send a car for you and bring you home again, free of cost.
