Pai Hospital
Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama, Goa · Dr. Mayur Pai, MBBS, MS (OBG)

The doctors treating you

The doctor you consult here is the doctor who treats you and, where surgery is involved, the doctor who operates. Pai Hospital has three registered doctors on staff, and every consultation, scan, procedure and admission happens in this one building at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama.

Dr. Mayur Pai

MBBS, MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)

Dr. Mayur Pai has been in practice for 15 years, as an IVF and fertility specialist and as a laparoscopic surgeon. He carries out fertility treatment, gynaecological surgery, termination of pregnancy and pregnancy care himself, in the hospital's own operating theatre and its own IVF laboratory, both at Vaddem, Vasco-da-Gama.

Three registered doctors on staff

Pai Hospital has three registered doctors on staff, not one. That matters in a specific, practical way for termination of pregnancy: where the law asks for a second doctor's opinion before a more advanced pregnancy can be certified, that opinion is given here, on the same visit, by doctors who have already examined you. The staff around the doctors

A great many patients arrive frightened, and for some it is the first time they have been inside a hospital at all. The nursing and reception staff are trained over years to be non-judgemental: nobody is looked at a certain way, nobody is asked to explain or justify themselves, and nothing said in a consulting room is repeated outside it. Gossip is not something we hope will not happen — it is a discipline the whole team is trained in and held to. That applies to every patient, whatever they have come for, married or unmarried.

What is treated under one roof

The operating theatre and the IVF laboratory are both in this one building, so investigations, procedures and follow-up all happen with the same doctor.

Why the doctors settle the cost as well

Because the assessment, the examination and the investigations are all done here by the hospital's own certified doctors, the figure you are quoted is worked out from your actual situation rather than an assumption about it. It is given to you itemised — hospital, medical, pharmacy and laboratory — hospital fees are taken in full in advance, and the figure does not change at the end.

Talk to the doctor before you decide anything

If you are trying to work out whether a particular treatment is right for you, the first step is usually a phone or WhatsApp conversation, not a form. Call or send your reports and we will tell you honestly what we think applies to your situation.

Will I see the same doctor at every visit?

Yes. The doctor you consult is the doctor who treats you and, for surgery, the doctor who operates.

Is Dr. Mayur Pai qualified in both fertility treatment and gynaecological surgery?

Yes. He is MBBS, MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), practising as an IVF and fertility specialist and as a laparoscopic surgeon for 15 years.

Why does it matter that there are three doctors on staff?

For termination of pregnancy specifically, the law asks for a second doctor's opinion beyond a certain stage. With three registered doctors here, that opinion is given at this one hospital, on the same visit.

Does what I say in the consulting room stay there?

Yes. Nothing said in a consultation is repeated outside the room or shared with anyone, and your identity is protected by law.
