What affects the cost of IVF treatment in Goa
The cost of IVF in Goa depends on what your cycle actually needs, not a single flat rate. Investigation, ovarian stimulation, egg collection, laboratory fertilisation and embryo transfer are separate steps, each with its own cost, and some patients need extra steps like ICSI or surgical sperm retrieval that others do not. A meaningful figure is only possible after a consultation looks at your specific situation.
The main cost components
An IVF cycle is built from several distinct steps, and the total reflects all of them together.
Initial investigation
Blood tests, scans and a semen analysis establish the starting point before a cycle is planned. Some of this may already be done if you bring reports from earlier testing.
Ovarian stimulation and monitoring
Medication supports the ovaries over roughly ten to fourteen days, with a series of scans and blood tests to track the response and time the next step correctly. How many monitoring visits a cycle needs varies from patient to patient.
Egg collection
A short procedure, done under sedation, to collect the eggs once monitoring shows they are ready.
Laboratory fertilisation and embryo culture
Carried out in the hospital's own embryology laboratory, where the eggs are fertilised and the resulting embryos are cultured for a few days before transfer.
Embryo transfer
The embryo is placed in the uterus in a short outpatient procedure.
Additional steps, where needed
Some cycles need ICSI, where a single sperm is injected directly into the egg, usually for male-factor infertility. Where sperm cannot be found in a semen sample at all, micro-TESE — a surgical retrieval procedure done in the hospital's own operating theatre — may be needed before the laboratory step can go ahead. Why the cost is different for different patients
Two patients having what looks like the "same" treatment can end up with different costs, because IVF is not a single procedure with a fixed price. Some of what changes the total:
- How many monitoring visits and scans a particular cycle needs, which depends on how the ovaries respond.
- How much medication is required to get a good response, which varies by age, ovarian reserve and earlier treatment history.
- Whether ICSI is needed, based on the semen analysis.
- Whether a surgical step such as micro-TESE is needed to retrieve sperm.
- Whether this is a first cycle, where more investigation is usually needed, or a later cycle building on tests already done.
