What actually makes up the cost of an IUI cycle
Monitoring
A series of scans and blood tests track how your cycle is responding, so the procedure can be timed to the day it's most likely to work. How many monitoring visits are needed varies from patient to patient, and this is usually the biggest variable in the total cost.
Medication
Some cycles use medication to support ovulation, and some do not, depending on what your investigation shows. Where medication is used, it adds to the overall cost of the cycle.
Sample preparation
The semen sample is washed and concentrated in the laboratory shortly before the procedure, which is part of the standard cost of the cycle.
The procedure itself
A short outpatient procedure that takes a few minutes and does not need anaesthesia.
Why cost varies between clinics, and between cycles
Two clinics offering "IUI" are not always offering the same thing — how much monitoring is built into the plan, whether the laboratory work is done on site, and what is included in the quoted figure can all differ. The same is true from one cycle to the next for the same patient: a cycle that needs more monitoring visits, or medication where an earlier one did not, will cost differently even for the same person. That is why a number quoted without knowing your situation is not a meaningful one.
